Weave an Easter Basket Workshop (In Person) – 3/28/26

$48.00

Basket Weaving Workshop: Saturday, March 28, 2026, 1-4 p.m. at Canyon Presbyterian Church, Morgantown, West Virginia.

Make Easter extra special this year by weaving your very own basket! In this workshop, you’ll weave a rectangular-bottomed Williamsburg-style basket with an oak D-handle. Your finished basket will measure approximately 13″ tall and 12.5″ across at the rim, expanding up from a 7″ x 8″ woven base. You’ll learn (or practice): stop-and-start weaving, using a Williamsburg-style D-handle, cut-and-tuck finishing, and rim lashing. This make-and-take workshop is perfect for crafty beginners, but any level student is welcome. In addition to your finished basket, you’ll also receive a sheet of illustrated instructions and the web address for purchase of additional materials, should you be inspired to make more baskets.

Please register here up to one day prior to the workshop. This class is limited to 8 students. Because I need to prepare materials in advance, I’ll not be able to take walk-ins. Please arrive by 12:45 so you’ll have time to get settled before class starts at 1:00. You’ll need to bring a few tools, which are listed below.

Appropriate for adults and truly interested teens, with the target age 14 years and beyond. See the full description below for additional information.

We will be in the community room at the church. Park in the lot and enter through the glass door at basement level, which opens into the community room. Please contact me before the day of the class if you need help with directions. I won't have an assistant on the day of the workshop so won't be able to help you navigate the day of the class.

Bring:  Reed is woven wet so you'll need a heavy bath or beach towel for your lap. Please bring a heavy pair of scissors to cut reed. I'll have small awls and clothespins available to use when adding the rim, but, if you have one, you might also like using flat-head screwdriver with a 1/4" wide blade (optional).

Class Size: The class will be limited to 8 people, so register early.

Cancellation and Transfer Policy: Cancellations with a refund will be accepted up to March 21 at midnight (a small fee will apply to cover credit card charges), or you're welcome at any time to transfer your registration to someone else for free as long as they're at least 14 years old. In case of weather bad enough to make travel unsafe, the workshop will be rescheduled and you'll have the option of either attending on the new day or receiving a full refund. Cancellations you make after March 21 will not be refunded unless I find someone to take your place (no guarantee).
