Basket Weaving Workshops

I offer basket weaving workshops at various locations around Morgantown, West Virginia. Unless noted otherwise, all are appropriate for crafty beginners. Intermediate and advanced students are also always welcome. Most classes are 3 1/2 hours long and include all materials plus the use of some tools.

All of the baskets I teach are crafted of flat and/or round reed of various sizes. In most cases, handles are oak. These baskets can be dyed using special basketry dye or something like Ritt dye. They can also be stained with ordinary wood stain or conditioned with butcher block conditioner for food safety.

You’ll need to bring a large towel, a pair of reasonably heavy scissors, and a flat-head screwdriver if you have one. You might also like your own 5-gallon bucket. Reed is woven wet and can be a bit messy so you’ll want to wear your crafting clothes and bring an apron, if desired.

Upcoming Basket Weaving Workshops

I periodically offer classes at The Ferry House in Granville, West Virginia, and at Canyon Presbyterian Church in the Cheat Lake area of Morgantown. Links to upcoming workshops can be found below. These workshops almost always sell-out, so register to avoid disappointment.
