Printed 5.25″ by 5.25″ on acid-free paper using pigment inks, this piece can be framed or sent as a birthday or everyday greeting. The original photo is printed on the back of the card with location info and a little story.

About the art. The digital collage on this card, titled Zinnia Pop, was created from a photo of an orange zinnia taken in my gardens on Pleasant Hill, near Brookhaven, West Virginia. New varieties of zinnia tend toward the ombre with gradations of unusual colors ending in a neon center. Somehow, though, a plain old orange bloom can still steal the show.

This piece was part of the Pop Series I created several years ago, which celebrated loud, clear pops of floral color. As such, it probably hung in exhibition but I can’t remember where! I’ve always loved orange, which in the Vedic tradition is associated with the sacral chakra and wild creativity.

A friend, however, used to tell me in all seriousness to never to wear orange because it was the “crazy color” and would tip people off to my mental state. Of course, that piece of advice just encouraged me to wear more orange, which in addition to its association with creativity is so warmly uplifting.
