Bumblebee card with pink rhododendron flower is 5.25″ square, printed in my studio on acid-free paper using pigment inks, the same materials I use to create fine art prints. The envelope is exceptionally nice, precisely made of quality paper. This bumblebee card is a perfect everyday or birthday greeting for all the bee lovers in your life. Also, Bee as Spirit Animal carries a busy, determined energy that helps you get things done, so this frameable little piece can also make for a nice altar card. Blank inside or choose the happy birthday greeting.

About the Art. I created the digital collage on this bumblebee card, titled Bumblebee Waltz, using my photo of an extremely large bumblebee gathering pollen from the extremely large rhododendron growing in front of my quite small house near Morgantown, West Virginia. This bee was no doubt an early queen, gathering pollen soon after emerging in the spring.

Bumblebees are great pollinators because they’re so freaking hairy. Pollen clings easily to their bodies and is transported from flower to flower, greatly aiding flowering plants in their mission to produce seeds with diverse and highly random characteristics. Bumblebees are docile and slow to aggression but will sting if handled. They’re great partners in the garden and can be encouraged to stick around in your yard by leaving some bare patches of soil, where they’ll overwinter in underground burrows. Bumblebees are also helped when you “leave the leaves”, which tends to keep soil damper and softer for burrowing.
