This poetry card is a Milkweed Rising exclusive and is printed from an original work of digital art. The Trail of the Cedars in Glacier National Park winds through massive cedar and other evergreen trees just off Going to the Sun Road. A boardwalk makes it accessible to all and it’s one of the most used and loved trails in the Park. You’re likely to find raucous kids, jostling tourists, and bridal parties on photo shoots when you visit at most times of day.
Stop by in early morning or late evening, though, to get the real, bone-deep feel of the place. The power of Avalanche Gorge and the mystery of its cyan waters, which was the inspiration for my Cold Waters mandala, the majestic cedars, the birdsong, and the dripping rock face against which a dense carpet of ferns clusters. Those ferns, which inspired this mandala, bring the reminder to stop and look, pause and really feel this place while walking gently on the Earth. I’ve added a bit of my poetry, Whisper Beneath the Forest Shadow, to this piece to convey the experience of visiting shortly before dusk as things settle back down and the shadows claim back the land.
This blank card is approximately 5″ wide and 7″ tall (portrait orientation) and is printed on premium 100 lb. white matte paper. A white envelope is included. The original color photo and the story of the piece are printed on the back of the card.
