About the art. I created this Solstice digital photo collage, titled The Promise, for a longest night exhibition in December of 2019. I used a photo I took of the moon over a cornfield on the Antietam Civil War Battlefield in Sharpsburg, Maryland. Although it is comprised of multiple layers, that single photo is all I used to create this piece. The Moon controls the ebb and flow of the tides and, some believe, the ebb and flow of emotions. This piece celebrates the mystery of the Moon's pull and also the Winter Solstice, or longest night of the year.
