This poetry card is a Milkweed Rising exclusive and is printed from an original work of digital art. I took the photo that served as this basis of Milkweed Mystery while on an excursion with my mom at the West Virginia Botanic Garden, one ridge over from my home on Pleasant Hill. Mom was taken by the strong lines in the cluster of common milkweed buds that she found along the road into the gardens and pointed out the photo op. This became one of my mysterious, deep pieces in deference to Mom’s taste in mandala art.
The buds reminded me of tightly clenched fists hiding treasures with, prompting me to write the poem, Fingers Uncurl, to address the untapped potential and beauty that we sometimes hold tightly back from the world.
This blank card is approximately 5″ wide and 7″ tall (portrait orientation) and is printed on premium 100 lb. white matte paper. A white envelope is included. The original color photo and the story of the piece are printed on the back of the card.
