This mandala greeting card is a Milkweed Rising exclusive and is printed from an original work of digital art created by Linda S. Gribko. People often ask me if I take photos specifically with mandala art in mind. The answer is sometimes yes and sometimes no. In the case of Guards at the Gate, the answer is a resounding “yes!”. The minute I saw the banks of blue ginger blooming at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I knew there was a mandala hiding in their midst. What I didn’t realize, however, is that they were also hiding a pride of lions. Do you see their muzzles revealed in the finished mandala? Lion carries the energy of per- sonal strength and power, so what’s being represented here is your own ability to stand tall, say no, and guard your own gate. Deep indigo is associated with intuitive knowing, so there’s an additional message here of trusting your own perceptions even when you can’t rationalize them to others.
This blank card makes a wonderful Everyday or Birthday greeting. It’s 5″ wide and 7″ tall and is printed on premium 100 lb. white matte paper, suitable for framing. A white envelope is included. The original color photo and story of the piece are printed on the back of the card.
Please note the watermark shown in the photo does not appear on the printed card.
