Honeybee on lavender cardoon flower mandala card digitally printed using pigment inks on silky, bright white, acid-free paper. Folded card is 5.25" by 5.25" and comes with a beautifully made, bright white envelope. The paper is super smooth, not slick, and takes gel, ballpoint, and other inks well. Perfect for any of the summer pagan or Wiccan holidays including Summer Solstice, Litha, Lammas, and Mabon. Also a nice birthday or thinking of you card for a beekeeper or gardener. The photograph I used to create the mandala is printed on the back of the card with the photo location. Interior of the card is blank or choose a birthday message.

The card and envelope are packaged together in a plastic sleeve and mailed in a stiffened mailer. One or two cards are shipped USPS First Class without tracking. Three or more cards are shipped via the most economical means, which usually includes tracking.

Framing. This card is created using high-quality materials, such as might be used in a museum. The print is sharp, bright, and frameable. To protect the vibrancy of the artwork, I frame using UV glass or acrylic, and I recommend it. If you use plain glass or acrylic, make sure you hang this sweet, little piece and all your beautiful art away from direct sunlight.

About the art. The digital collage on this card, titled Sun Spot, was created using this original photo of a cardoon flower surrounded by honeybees taken in the edibles garden at Phipps Conservatory and Botanic Gardens in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. A close relative of the artichoke, cardoons are also edible, but you eat the stem, rather than the flower bud.

Honeybees were absolutely swarming the patch of cardoons when I visited the edibles garden at Phipps in 2025. It was a hot July morning with plenty of sun, so I decided to make this piece all about the energy of that sun. The hot plasma in the center sports a sun spot that has electrified the fluffy lavender flower, making it appear to leap away from the surrounding greenery. Pairs of bees have their heads together, bypassing the need for the gathering of pollen by harvesting lively sparks directly from the flower.
